April 15, 2010ABATTOIR, Büyükberber/Klein, Davis/VanHeumen: STEIM residents performing at OT301Three studio projects supported by STEIM will be performing at OT301.Date: Wednesday April 15, 2010 Location: OT301, Overtoom 301, Amsterdam Time: 21:30 (door open 21:00) Entrance: € 6 ABATTOIR is Audrey Chen (cello & voice) and Robert van Heumen (laptop & controllers). Rooted in free improvisation and experimental electronics, they perform music where Chen’s intense vocals and intricate cello playing are sampled, transformed and ripped apart by Van Heumen’s vigorous laptop actions. Together, they are able to create a deeply sensitive communication infused with a boundless feeling of release and letting go. Their first CD was released on Evil Rabbit Records late 2009. This is the CD release concert. http://west28.nl/ABATTOIR/ Büyükberber/Klein is Oğuz Büyükberber on clarinet / bass clarinet / live electronics and Tobias Klein on bass clarinet / contrabass clarinet / live electronics. One thing that Oğuz Büyükberber and Tobias Klein have in common is that they feel most at ease when they are going full force. In minimalistic pieces, they zoom in on the very grains of sonic textures to explore their microscopical structures. On the other hand, they both have a liking for extremely extroverted, sometimes even sentimental gestures. Abstract tearjerkers, why not? It’s all 120% honest. http://www.tobiasklein.nl/ http://www.oguzbuyukberber.net Davis/VanHeumen is drones with bassclarinet and electronics. Expect big reverbs, long gestures, slow moving soundworlds, subtle details. Gareth Davis (clarinet and bass clarinet) and Robert van Heumen (laptop & controllers) have recentely recorded material at STEIM for an upcoming release. This is just the beginning. |
